Follow these instructions before your Lip Blushing Service
Preparing your skin the right way assures your session will be pain free, your skin will accept and retain pigment better, and makes healing a breeze.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS CLOSELY IN THE WEEKS AND DAYS LEADING UP TO YOUR APPOINTMENT
- •Stop using all prescription retinoids (IE: Retin-A, Tretinoin, Differin) These products cause bleeding, sensitivity and poor pigment retention.
- •Wait 6 weeks between any filler treatments and lip blush tattooing
- •DO NOT use steroids (oral, injection or topical) within 4 weeks of your session.
- •Stop all over the counter retinol products, acne treatments, BHA/AHA serums.
- •Avoid sunbathing, burning or tanning on your face. Do not arrive with sunburned or peeling lip skin.
- •Wait 4 weeks between and laser work, microneedling or electrolysis around the lips and your lip blushing session.
- •Start gently exfoliating your lips with a sugar scrub or soft toothbrush before bed.
- •Begin applying a thin layer of aquaphor regularly over your lips.
- •If you have ever had a cold sore, begin taking antivirals medication as prescribed by your dr to prevent the tattoo from triggering an outbreak. Continue daily until 3 days after your appointment.
- •Do not use blood thinners such as NSAIDS (Naproxin, ASPRIN, ibuprofen etc) If prescribed, check with your doctor first.
- •Avoid vitamins and green juicing.
- •Stop using saunas, steam rooms and avoid intense exercise.
- •Begin drinking plenty of water and eating hydrating foods.
- •Avoid alcohol
- •Avoid excessive caffeine.
- •Stay well hydrated—drink water.
- •Avoid SPF, skin care and makeup to the lip area.
- •Get a full nights sleep and try to reduce stress.
Morning Of Appointment
- Please avoid caffeine
- Please arrive with clean, product free lips.
- Eat a light, nourishing meal.
- Please bring your antiviral medication and let your artist know of any cold sore history.
Special Notes
- If you arrive with a cold sore or active irritation, your appointment will be rebooked.
- Tattoos are not recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or undergoing medical treatments that affect the skin or immune system. (including but not limited to Accutane, chemotherapy, steroid use)
